Yes
Never thought it would bother me but it does really.

Recently it was a rainy afternoon and I was a bit bored, so I thought I would pop down a mate’s house for a brew. I took along my camera on the premise of using his 1 year old as a practise subject; they don’t seem to object too much at that age. I promised that if I got any worthwhile shots I would let him have copies.

Any how, my mates mum is down there and she’s an interfering moaning old bat at the best of times. She manages to ignore me taking photographs for a while but then start’s moaning about the flash giving here a head ache, this then went into a full on whine about potential brain issues she has (thinks she has) so I put the camera away.

Later on having a look through the shots I pick out a few I think they may like, do a little post processing and send them some jpegs. They liked them and wanted to print them, I suggested doing this on their behalf as I wanted to try out DSCL, and they just cover the cost of the prints.

Few weeks later see my mate’s missus, she really likes the pictures, she then tells me the mum has taken one of the prints and had it blown up, the cheek of it, after all the moaning she did. It’s even worse that she used the print rather than ask about getting the full resolution digital image.

Mind you I probably would have told her to do one.

Also covered a second wedding at the last minute for someone else (free as it was practise), had all on getting a thank you out of them, never again. :bang:

I would be pleased that she was so happy with my picture, that she wanted a bigger version.

I can see why you're narked off though. Some people, are just like that.

Did you say, 'if you want any larger/different versions, let me know' ?

Thankfully I still hold the full size files.

But who in their right mind would walk into a shop with a print and ask for it to be blown up?

I love making people happy by giving them nice shots of kids/familes/pets, but others moaning about it and then sneaking off and getting a copy behind my back is a bit annoying. I'm flattered if others want cpoies because they like them and will try and help where I can, but just ask. Its not the first time I have seen my pictures crop up in places other than orignally intended.

who in their right mind would take a screenshot of a low res 800 on the long side photo and have a canvas made up from it... believe it or not it has happened. same reason screenshots of photos with watermarks appear all over facebook.. its "free" (and breaking copyright but thats another thread).

I'm wondering which shop did the blow-up.. every print I've had done by DSCL has "copyright image" printed on the reverse.

b****r the friend.. I'd be down the shop that did the enlargement and creating merry hell just for the sheer amusement value.

From your earlier comments about her, perhaps she doesn't realise there's another way of getting a bigger copy of the picture...

@ neil_g, Some people never cease to amaze me with the crap they are prepared to put up on thier walls.

@Alistair, I did not know that and will be checking in future.

@Faldrax, she does do some strange things, but shes a mates mum and I am always polite to her.

****** her in the ******

That'll learn her.

Edited - I've eaten too much sugar today...

I don't understand why this bothers you so much.

*scratches head*

Me neither. You say you wanted free practise, which you got, and some nice images into the bargain. So you're happy, and they're happy. Where's the problem?
