ND110 Ten Stop Filter

Save yourself a lot of grief and some money by buying the right size filter, it's probably going to be half the price of a 77mm filter.

But you can buy 1 77mm filter and use it on multiple lenses - for example, I can use a 77mm filter on 5 of my lenses without any vignetting, and all of them providing I zoom out a little on some, all for the cost of a step up ring in the right size for less than £10 each

That has to be one of the worst bits of advise that I've seen in a long time

Agree with the stepper ring.

I bought a 77mm B&W 10 stopper and with stepping rings I can use it on all my other lenses (except the Bigma).

Makes the filter more versatile!

All of the above advice is true, i was merely thinking of the cost as the difference between the 2 sizes is quite significant. I suppose you have to ask yourself are you realistically going to use it on 5 lenses with different size threads?

As others have stated, this advice is back to front. Buying a 77mm ND110 will fit most lenses via step up adaptor whereas you'd look preety daft with a 55mm ND110 on a 77mm (W/A) lens. Therefore not futureproof costwise.

Absolutely. Even if you don't immediately intend to do so it's still good to always have that option.

For the OP, the B+W ND110 is a stalwart with me. It's slightly stronger than the Lee Big Stopper (another worthwhile option) it's also slightly warmer. The Lee is easier to use though especially if you are using grads as well.

And the difference between a step up ring (£10) and a smaller filter (£50) is even bigger!

I thought as much guys, but thanks for clarifying things for me :)
Now time to spend some more £ on camera gear.
My friend's mum loves me. Having never met me, she's agreed I can order whatever I want to her house and pick it up when we stay there.
So far it'll be the filter, step up ring, 2 spare batteries, memory cards, remote shutter release, some books and a few other bits (all delivered at various times!)
