ok so here is the dilema: i went to downtown today (cleveland,OH) and was looking to get some good pictures. (using a nikon D80) in my little journey, i find some BMX guys (thought it would be cool to take pictures) and i asked.. they said it was ok. so i begin to take pictures, but they werent coming out righ... out of focus an so on.. so i will be goin next friday (july 9) and re-try my work.. so i need some help setting my camera..
BTW a beatiful sunset is behind us and im tryng to get a good picture of these guys doing their tricks and the sunset at the same time.. is it possible??

If you could post one or two of the images you shot, we'd be able to give you some better advise. :)

Basically your shutter speed's too slow.

What you'll want to do is bump up your ISO, or use a wider aperture so that you can get a faster shutter speed.

Also, if you've got a sunset in the backgruond, if you want to see detail in your subject and not just a silhouette, you'll probably want to be using a flash or two. :)

i think i did put the iso around 300.. thanks though ;) ill make sure my shutter speed is higher.
btw how do you take pictures like the one in your avatar?

The D80 should be ok up to about ISO800.

My Avatar : dark room, f/8, flash from the side shooting through a 4'x2' diffuser.
