need help

I have the Nikon D70 i just went outside took a couple of pictures and they have all come out really drak you can just make out the picture but they are full on black

Anyone know what im doing wrong?

and no the lens cap is not on :)

You have to post a picture so we can see the exif.. or post the exif yourself.. theres no way anyone could answer this without more info.

that was from last night supposed to be i glass with an ice cube :)
 
I would be pretty sure that the fact you shot in manual at 1/8000 sec is why you have nothing but black. Also, you need to resize that pic to 800 pixels across to keep it within the forum rules :rules:
 
Sorry, I hope my previous post didn't sound abrupt, I was posting quickly as I had to attend to something!

What I should have said is that, at 1/8000 second exposure you won't have allowed anywhere near enough light in to expose the shot. I'm guessing you were shooting indoors by the description of the shot you were going for? Try setting your camera on Apeture Priority (A) and try again. That way the camera will work out the correct shutter speed based on the apeture you set.

Where'd you get that info, Grendel? I don't see any EXIF.
For all I know the lens cap was still on the lens...:lol:
 
The original shot that that Oaten posted had the exif data attached. It was waaaay over the forum limit though and he's now posted a smaller version with the EXIF stripped :)
