Nesting time for the Herons

I am fortunate enough to have a heron nesting site within 5 mins of my home- I grabbed this whilst walking the dog -I'll soon have a very noisy colony me thinks

I have one 10mins from my home, although I can't get as close to them as you appear to have. They are currently repairing nests although 3 females appear to be hunkered down on eggs. Hatching due mid march I believe.

Thanks guys- Not Swell woods, but a wood close to my home and on the land I manage, these have just started the material gathering process, I'll visit again on Sunday and hopefully get more images

These are nice. I used to live in St Albans near a park and on the lake, on an island in the middle, was a Heronry. Was too far away to get decent shots like these tho.
