I'm hoping someone on here can help me out with a problem.
The dvd writer on my laptop (vista business) has packed in and I am in the middle of transferring photos to my imac.
Is there a simple way that I can connect the two together and finish transferring my photos?

share the drive on your vista laptop, browse to it from the mac, drag and drop

use the Apple K combination and the use smb:<ip address>\<share name>

If your pretty new to networking it may be easier to just use a usb hard drive or a large usb stick, by the time youve sorted out the networking it might of been just as quick to do over media.

You are probably right Mark.
Looking at the network on the mac, it does not see any other device.
Looking at the network from the laptop, it can see every device except the mac.

Some times the simpilest ways are the best.

Ive not got any experience with macs but if i had the same fault with two windows machines and assuming i knew they were both in the same workgroup with the correct ip address`s and file sharing enabled id be looking at the firewall settings, could be blocking them from communicating.
