hi,im new to the hobby as my wife bought me a canon 450d for christmas and was thinking of buying a flash gun for it,i have seen a 420ex speedlite on ebay and was wondering if this will be ok for my camera.thanks tony

Hi tony, welcome to TP nice camera your wife got you yes the 420ex will be fine but keep an eye on the for salepart of TP they show up on there quite often and you have a better chance of it being well looked after from a member on here.

You cant really go wrong with the 420ex but you might be able to pick up a flash from a 3rd party for less money. As the others said keep an eye on the classifieds.

What ever you get make sure it has bounce/swivel ability. A fixed head flash is ok for fill but indoors in low light it's going to look just has harsh as the built in one unless you can point it toward the ceiling or a wall. Don't underestimate the value of a good flash, it can transform your photos!
