finally got myself a new lens for my d3200 got a af-s dx nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6g ed vr cant wait to test it next week at my local race track holding there car track day so can give it a good test out
Just a tip for panning on cars: Turn the VR off, it’s too intrusive on the panning motion and actually makes your photos blurry, so if you’re panning make sure you have the VR off. Higher level lenses have different VR modes specifically for panning but yours doesn’t so you’ll want to turn it off all together![]()
I have the same lens. Yes it is slow to focus but I guess thats the trade off in price. I do like using it.
As advised, turn off VR for tracking subjects. I tend to use a single point focus to tame the focus hunting.
Heres my flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/rossmiller/ the Zoo animals and the bird shots were done with the 55-300mm.
