New Macbook

Right i'm currently in the process of saving up for a macbook but i don't know which one to get. I have the option of getting the white one for around £700 or the new aluminium/black one for around £900. Is it worth spending the extra £200 on a macbook or save that for camera equipment?

Photo and video editing mainly and some music stuff, as i have a dell inspiron 2200 (heap of crap tbh) for everything else.

Well I have brought a New MacBook the Ally one, 2.4Ghz and upgraded to 4Gb RAM. The new one has faster memory. I run CS4 and it runs sweet. I decided to spend the extra and it was well worth it.

so is it worth going for 2.4GHz or just keep to the 2.0GHz? I'm not too worried about the hard drive as i have a 750GB external hard drive.

Be aware - the new aluminium one has ditched the firewire, so unless you are capturing video to an alternate source first...it's no good!

I think i may as well save up for the 2.4GHz. Just out of interest, how did you manage to get it down to £900 delivered? The apple store are selling it for £1125

I have the 2.4 GHz and it runs sweet with photoshop cs4, dreamweaver cs4 flash cs4 and fireworks cs4 no problem and that's just with 2GB of memory (although it's the new DDR3).

£900!! where did you get that?

I got it from the bay. Band New, £900 delivered, bought the extended warranty and 4Gb DDR with my savings.

I run the white 2.0ghz version, but I upgraded to 4gb of ram just after purchase, and I'd recommend doing this if you go for it - especially if you wanna capture and crunch some video on it.

Crucial.com is a great spot for buying mac RAM btw, dirt cheap and great delivery times.
