New Old Film Challenge #9 'Bridges' Discussion Thread.

I disagree Brian, when I take a shot of Tower Bridge every shot is unique. The light at the moment I press the shutter will never be the same again, the people in the shot will never stand in exactly the same place again or have exactly the same expression on their faces, the river will never look the same, the boats will never occupy that same space again, there will never be the same combination of traffic across the bridge or combination of tourists taking pictures from the bridge, I'm in their pictures whether they like it or not and they are in mine. It's not a done to death every angle covered night or day mundane tourist snapshot it's a unique never to be repeated frozen moment in time.

Well probably every shot taken by anybody is unique, and can see your point in enjoying what you do....and my thinking and what I enjoy could be different to everybody here, but that me.

Iwas wondering when an image from Newcastle would appear! Glad I'm not disappointed! Cracking pic too!

23 entries so far! Keep them coming!

Don't bother looking for the Ouse valley viaduct, it ain't nowhere near the river Ouse at all, its in some daft arsed place called Crawley.......or something
Definitely southern jesse land.....(n)

Can't afford a trip to Venice so I've whapped a shot of the Oxford copy up :)

Been there twice for that bridge (well not JUST for that bridge) and it was covered in scaffold! :(

The residents of Balcombe just might object to the viaduct being described as in Crawley.

Has the thaw occurred yet on the Tundra or are all the hard northerners still skating in shorts on the Ouse in York ?

The wolves have finally retreat back to the forest and the great thaw has begun.... hooray time to remove the bearskin coats.

sounds like a solicitor, or a poncy southern beer, don't you be saying its in Yawksha when it isn't.....

:D Andy's comment "The wolves have finally retreat back to the forest and the great thaw has begun.... hooray time to remove the bearskin coats."...reminded me of######? Brownie points who gets it right.

lol

More chance of me unraveling the genetic code from 14 species of Amazonian gecko, than figure out what you're thinking....:D

Millions of people would have got my joke but it's fallen flat here

Sorry Brian, you've lost me.

Oh well hasn't anyone read the books and seen the tv series of "game of thrones"....now the joke is ruined :(

I am quite 'modern' compared to most in here, the cobwebs are still forming and Roberts still eyes me suspiciously every so often and even I don't watch it!!

My wife or son's partner wont watch it as it's too violent and bordering on porn.....but the period it was set were violent times in true life so probably factual even though the series was fiction. To see it you have to be connected to HBOS (netflix don't have it) or buy the videos.

I've not seen it, is it a game show set in a public lavatory?

:D It has a cult following and holds the record for the most pirated series...estimated at over 8 million downloads
Who'd have thought a game show in a public convenience would be so popular?

Don't really want to speculate on downloads in a public convenience...

It all seems a little.... George Michael to me...

Well if you did see it, it would get you off the computer as you have to concentrate and miss a bit and you get lost in the complicated story....mainly British actors (starting off with Sean Bean) and plenty of British slang and accents although American financed etc for US tv....and was filmed in NI, Iceland and I think Italy or Spain.

I watch it and its fantastic. I got the joke Brian and it was kind of what I was thinking when I posted the wolf thing.....

Now I'm worried... I'm on the same wavelength as Brian..... :D
