Yes
Had a new screen fitted under warranty today to my Lenovo T61 stinkpad.

I have noticed that there is one dead pixel.

I have seen sites claiming that if you do this & that you can fix them.

has anybody tried these claims & can you point me in the direction of one
that works.

I will call customer support tomorrow but in the meantime, if I can fix it
myself it will save me having to stay in all day again.

the short truthful answer, learn to live with it...

the pixel is DEAD. and you won't be able to get it replaced under warranty unless there are a certain number of dead pixels within a certain area on your monitor.

Honestly, you'll forget about it in due course ( a bit like the chip on my windscreen that I only ever think about when the ad comes on the telly! )

Is it Dead or Stuck? put full screen colours up R G &B and see if its dead or stuck if it vanishes on one colour then its stuck on that colour
There are some progs then will try to unstick it but making a selection on the pix and it then flashes it at high speed for some time and some times it can start to work.

I'm assuming from the OP that its dead, usually when its stuck people wouldn't describe it as dead:shrug:

I maybe wrong when i say dead having done some Google research

If I open Windows Paint & make a black screen, the pixel is red.

Im guessing its stuck.

Some sites are suggesting pressing in the area or massaging it with
software that makes the screen randomly change colours & leave it
soing this overnight.

ahh ok, then you stand a chance.

Don't put too much effort into physically pressing it. If a light press doesn't work then try the software thing....

Oh, and a quick word of caution on a similar matter.... if ever you see a little mite walking under the protective front layer of your monitor, DON'T press on it and squash it inside there!

Thanks for that, I will have a look at some instructions.

Regarding the little mite, I did have one in an old Ibm T23.

I didnt push it, it walked around for a few days for by kicking the bucket.

I thought that was funny but what was even funnier, someone on another
forum asked if I could do a screen shot of it

I have put a little thumb pressure on the area & you can see what looks like
an oily liquid moving around. The pixel brightness goes a little dim & then
brightens back up.

First result in google: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php It's free and should only take 20mins, but dont look at the screen when its on, my eyes hurt after seeing it for 30 seconds! :)

I saw that when I searched earlier. Will give it a go in a little while.

is it slap bang in the middle or near an edge?

if its just a single pixel you soon start to ignore it..

Its in the top third & just right of centre.

Its also bright red & at the moment irritating.

I may have to change my LR colours as they are black/grey & it really does
glow

Any luck?

Apologies for late update but no luck yet.

Phone Lenovo & they wont replace the scren unless there is more than
three dead/stuck pixels.

The repair didnt work either.

Will have another go but it looks like im going to have to learn to live with it.

Sorry to hear... Definately sounds like a 'stuck' pixel than dead if it's still red in colour. Maybe just keep trying different things, software? I've had a bit of look and seems many others have had pixel problems with T61's. Some said it eventually fixed itself after a few months...
