New Tokina Macro . . . 'cheap as chips'.

???:thinking: . . . Oh well, still new to me, and still 'cheap as chip'. I have looked at Macros before and never come across it . . . :shrug:

Tokina don't seem to get much of a mention usually, but their macro is (evidently) very good and they also make some supposedly excellent UWA zooms.

The price of the tokina is similar to the (also superb) tamron 90mm, which is very popular.
 
Digital Camera Magazine has a review of macro lenses this month. The Tokina was posited as being the best for Nikon cameras.

Makes a nice change, some of the magazines I read tend to give the most favourable reviews to whoever pays the most advertising revenue; not that I would mention any *cough* digital photo *cough* names.
