New website published-Gallery homepage updated

First thing to jump out at me is when you go onto the Galleries page, Panoramic is spelt incorrectly. "Pamoramic"

Also I feel that the index page is very bare. Perhaps add a little welcome message and animate the main image into a slideshow.

Thanks for your comments Peter!!!

Changed spelling thanks for spotting.:thumbs::thumbs:

I was planning on animating the main page. Hopefully over the next few days.

Very valid points on the gallery index page. I'm been puzzling over that myself and how to present it. More thought needed there!!!! Watch that space!!!!

Hi Gerald. I have had a good look at your site and here are my observations if that's ok.
It looks a little bare, unless you are going for the minimalist look!
In your "about me" page maybe add a nit more info as the visitor doesn't really get to know you.
Why not add a "in my bag" type page. I really like to see what kit others use and I'm sure I'm not alone on this. You could really go into depth and add links for your kit.
In the same vein, how about a review page?
I really like your images but the portfolio page looks a bit " amateurish", I would have the text beneath the thumbnails if it were my site.
Add a guestbook page.
Overall I would like to see a blog page where you could link images and tell a story about the day, the weather, lighting etc.
These are just a few personal opinions and it is your site so you have to be happy.

Thanks for your opinions Andy.:thumbs: I'll try and answer them.

I am looking for the minimalist, but a little more information on the gallery page is required. As is a change to the layout. I have a few ideas and it will change over the next few weeks.

There is a blog in the pipeline.

The about me page is a little out of date and thanks for your honest feedback. It was created when I put up the original website 2yrs ago.

I'm not a big fan of "in my bag" pages as I do not like to advertise what expensive kit I have laying around. Call me paranoid but it’s not something I'm prepared to advertise.

A guestbook or at least somewhere for people to comment on my photos is an option, and a good idea.

Hi...

Im just looking at web sites myself...and will be starting basic...

I think with your look B&W would make the front of house pop more...and maybe a different font...

But thats just me...wish you all the best...

Agree with TBMS about the font. A sans-serif would probably look better. Also there's a typo on the 'About Me' page - 'wondering' instead of 'wandering'. The minimalist look is fine IMO - it didn't do Google any harm, though a short strapline describing what you do (marked up in HTML as an <h2> heading) would also help your SEO. Hope this makes sense!

Galleries page could definatly do with a bit of a change, i don't really like the way you've got the text over the images.

As mentioned a better font could be used.

Also you might want to take a look here to check for errors.

+1 for the red font in gallery being a bit 'too much'. Maybe consider a shorter URL too, eg. gd-photography.co.uk?

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to look at the website and provide feedback.

Individual points are answered each section and the general points are answered at the bottom.

The gallery page is being looked into and a change of layout is required. Hopefully working to get a new layout this afternoon.

The font I am happy with, but I will test your suggections, and see how I feel about it.

Front page has a selection of 5 images changing to make it more interesting.

Rollover text on gallery pictures now implement!!

I have now changed the layout of the gallery homepage. Sorry about the delay in getting it changed, had a wee stop in the hospital. Please let me know what you think!!!!
