New website...

It's pretty basic, as sites go, which surprised me a little given that this is your profession. Nothing wrong with it, just not what I expected.

It surprises me that I am able to save an unwatermarked and unprotected copy of your photos so easily....?? :thinking: Or is that part of your way of marketing? It just seems strange, from what I read, that you would do that.
 
To be honest Scott, I find that refreshingly simple. I really don't want to work too hard to just see some images. I can't believe how difficult and slow some sites can be.

Sometimes it's better to let the pictures do the talking, rather than over-complicated flashy websites.

Hi Scott

Have to agree with Samantha on this one, very basic website and nothing with any wow-factor. Also, on your clients page, you have the logos of the Sun, BBC etc but they are not clickable link. I thought this would show me the work you have had pubished with these organisation.

I knew a Scott Campbell who moved from Huntly to Aberdeen, it wouldn't by any chance be you would it? :p
 
I think you are missing the opportunity to use your photography to punch the user between the eyes

What do you want the site to do for you? what is its exact purpose?
 
I actually quite like it.
Simple and to the point.
 
Personally I like the simplistic, minimalistic approach. Nothing deters me more than having to wait for flashy websites to load just so I can see a few pictures - normally I hit the stop button before they even get to load :)

Of course, I'm not looking at the site as a potential client so my views are irrelevant :D
 
I like it, there are a lot of photography/portfolio websites that are over done and give worked on too much. I think the design and layout is great but if you can I'd put a bit more content up :thumbs:
 
Very simple, very clean, the only thing I don't like on the looks side is the serif font you are using for picture titles/details etc. Your name/logo is a nice clean sans serif font and the mixture of the two doesn't work.

As already asked, whart's the purpose of your site? I also found loading times between sections painful at first. Not sure if that's the lunchtime wave of surfers slowing me down at this end, but not quite as quick/snappy as I'd expected from something so clean.

Richard - have you redesigned your site? Is the navigation finished, as I'm finding it very odd to actually look at a decent sized image without having to wave my mouse around.

(PS. there are some obvious typos and spelling mistakes that I've spotted as well, like in the link above).
 
Looks good, however you might want to lighten the text slightly as the grey against grey does get lost slightly e.g. http://scottcampbellphoto.co.uk/about/.

The about us page is also a little plain, could maybe do with something on there to make it stand out a little. Finally you only have the contact info on the contact us page, might it be worth you having the phone number/email on the menu so that it is accessible on every page.
 
I think it's great. I'm just wondering if there was a better way to use the space where the images load. On a hi-res screen there is a lot of empty space.

Apart from that another good example of how effective minimal websites can be.
 
I like it. Especially how the menu is semi transparent. It certainly show of the images to best effect.

Ha ha. My original website was designed in iWeb (which I made this thread for), and I then decided to switch over to a theme on WordPress - better SEO etc.

Woah. Never seen image navigation like that. Difficult to say the least!
