I had time to spare before catching a train yesterday so spent a few minutes at the newsstand flicking through magazines. I picked one up that had the photographs from a photo competition held last year, the National Countryside Week competition showcasing the best of the British countryside.
I spotted an image in the magazine that was very similar to one that I had taken and thought it really strange that someone had taken such a similar photo. On closer inspection it was mine with a credit to prove it! In addition there was another of my photos on the next page. Gobsmacked.
Thinking back, I did submit images to that particular competition and they emailed when the results were out so I knew that I was not one of the prize winners. However, this magazine (Picture Perfect, actually described as a "bookazine") was not only showcasing the winning images but also had a section for Editor's Choice. My images were selected as Editor's Choice in the South East region.
Anyway, I am really pleased but puzzled why I was not informed. If I had not been early for my train I would never have known that my images were in print.
So, if I found myself in that situation, how many other TP'ers may be in the same position? Has anyone been informed that their images were printed in that magazine? If anyone thinks they may have made editior's choice and don't have a copy of the magazine, PM me your name and the region you entered and I will check for you. Alternatively, you can check the magazine yourself. I bought mine in Smiths.
