Hi guys, im waiting to take delivery of a NEX5 with 16mm Pancake lens, i do have however half a dozen older Olympus OM lenses kicking around.Ive already ordered an adaptor to fit the NEX but im unsure as to how the old lenses will behave, i already understand no auto focus and the like but will the focal length change? ie will a 28mm become a 56mm and so on? or is there a software compensation for this? Ive only just joined guys and its my first Digital camera.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe so, not too sure on the exact figures but i do know the focal length will change.

The other thing is that the pancake is not up to scratch from the reviews i have read, your probably better off getting yourself a prime.

Someone pointed out to me the other day, the focal length won't actually change.

You will just have a 2x crop of what it would look like on a 35mm or full frame camera.

Outside square is 35mm or full frame, inside square is a cropped sensor.

I think that the NEX has a x1.5 crop factor. FourThirds system is x2.

OK, the picture I posted is 1.5 anyway, so that's what you'll get.

Somewhere in the menus there's a feature called "release without lens" or similar... Make sure this is on otherwise the cam won't fire. I use my nex with some old m42 lenses and find it a really nice system to work with.
