Hi All, this thread is for the Nifty Fifty Challenge chat.

The boring stuff...

Rules..
  • Images must be taken in the month of the theme and posted here before the end of the month.
  • Images taken at the Nifty Fifty focal length on full frame or the equivalent focal length on crop bodies, ie. Canon 1.6 crop body plus 35 prime or 30mm on zoom etc.
  • No lens modifiers, this is about the purity of the Nifty Fifty FL and being close to the human eye.
  • Tiny crop to straighten allowed, try to keep the image as close to what the lens would see.
  • Cropping to new ratio, ie 16:9, is allowed, but please keep to full width and as a last resort, it is about the purity of the view from the lens above all else.
  • The theme will be posted on the first of each month, in the title bar of the image thread.
  • Shoehorns, even Lube and Crowbars are allowed to squeeze into the theme ;)
  • A poll will be added at the end of the month, (just for fun, no records will be kept).
  • Please list gear used.
  • Open to all, no sign up required.
  • One entry only please.

2023, or 2024? Not a lot of 2023 left ;)

Would you do themes (IE one a weel, or month etc). Think i`d be up for one next year, as it`s a bit late to start now.

Just for week 50 of 2023, based on 50mm FL, open themes etc.

Not sure how long it's been running, but I saw one last year.
 
Next week, no theme or cropping would be best I think.

I wasn't expecting a monthly one, but would probably give it a go...
 
Maybe like the "new old" challenge where the previous winner sets the theme?
 
I'm wondering if we do the monthly next year, if a random theme goes up for the 1st of each month, so it gives everyone a full month to get an image and more may be able to join in?

A poll at the end of each month to decide the most popular image?

I think it's looking like a plan then, I'll get another thread up soon for the monthly to start in Jan.

"no cropping" might be a bit of a pita. I always crop a little bit ;)

I've set up Januarys theme thread, I will post a theme just before or on the first.

Please take a look and let me know if I've made any errors or something needs tweaking.

I think if we crop too much we stray from the fifty as a focal length?

Oh for sure. I can always crop for screen BG at a later time in post (should I actually manage anything of worth) ;)

Where will the stuff be? The comps section is full up with the 52ers :snaphappy:
