Nikon 20mm or 24mm f2.8

I've been pondering this for a while and debating whether to buy one or the other.

I currently use a Tamron 24-70 to use as my "wide" lens for weddings BUT I only ever use for tightish group shots. Other than that it stays in my bag as I use 35/50/85 primes.

It's a bit of a lump and I think one of the above would be a good replacement but would rather hear a few opinions from those who use either the 20mm or 24mm (or a similar prime for that matter).

I'm definately selling the Tamron (to MPB it looks like) this week so I'll need a wide replacement soon.

Any opinions welcome :)
 
Depends if you looking for the 20mm f1.8G or the older f2.8D, honestly the newer 20mm is night and day better than the older D lenses but I always found my 24mm f2.8D (which I still have) to be better than the 20mm f2.8D.

Also worth mentioning that the new 24mm f1.8G seems to be available in a few places now and I've not seen much said about it but I'd expect its going to be similar to the other "G" primes in quality.

Logically, if you already have a 24mm focal length in your zoom, then go for the 20mm!
 
Edging toward the older 24mm f2.8. Anyone else used it ?

I'm not spending hundreds on the newer models to use a handful of times during a wedding.
 
I had the older D variety of the 24mm 2.8, I used it once and sold it on, I thought the IQ was a bit meh, and needed lots of contrast to bring it up for what I needed (landscapes). Not the best performance wide open on mine either.
