Nikon 28-200 AF-G lens

Anyone any views on this lens for the Nikon D700 FF? Also have D300 so would I be better off considering a lens for it instead? merv

I know nothing about the 28-200, but I do know that the 28-300 is pretty decent. It's a new design, it's sharp, and it has VR.

It's impossible to help you decide whether to buy a lens for your D300 or your D700 without knowing what you've already got and what you use the cameras for. We're not mind readers here.

28-300 VR is getting quite a following. Well worth considering. Flexible, sharp good VFM
No reason to think it won't do a good job on either body.

Love him or hate him Ken Rockwell likes the 28-200G and I quite like it as well.
The 28-300VR is undoubtedly an excellent lens but it is also three times the price of the 28-200G and over twice as heavy.

28-200G gets good reviews from what I can see. I am using a Nikkor 28-105 on my D700 at the moment. It is surprisingly good and the bonus is it's small, lightweight and does a bit of macro.
