Can any Nikon fan please let me know what models there have been in the 300mm AF-S f2.8 line up?

I'm aware of the later VRI and VRII models but I recently noticed an AF-S II non VR, just wondered how many there have been in the last ten years or so.

There are two non-Nikon VR versions, MKI and MKII both are identical optically. MKII has a smaller tripod collar to save a bit of weight.

In the last 10 years there have been 4 AF-S versions, all are optically superb. Each new version got more expensive than the prevous one!

Thanks for the help Andy.

Do you know if the AF-S II and the VRI models changed optically? I found a "white" AF-S II Non VR model for sale in a shop, not cheap but looks mint. I tried to find specs for the non VR models but no luck.

Nikon's MTF figures shows the versions prior to VR are optically ever so slighly sharper wide open. I don't anyone could see a difference in the realworld.

Thanks for the help everyone, much clearer now.

Ive got a "White" one, bought it brand spanking new about 3-4 months ago for a knock down price, apparently Nikon dealers arent allowed to sell stock as new if its been sat on a stock shelf for over 2 years

Whats the price on the one youve seen.

Anybody any ideas on what is a reasonable price for each model?

I must be careful as I have a vested interest here but Mifsuds have a VR1 and Grays an AF-S II on their sites S/H. Should give you a clue.

I was just interested. My next lens purchase will be a 70-200 f2.8 vr2 to replace the 80-200 f2.8 plus possibly a cheaper FF manual focus lens for the film cameras.

It's for sale at £2300 and they class it as "As New" so it could be something similar to your lens.
