nikon 50mm F1.4 G

Thinking of splashing out on a Nikon D7000 and 50mm F1.4 G lens, how versatile would this lens be, I know its a very good for portraits but can you do landscapes with this for example?

I use it quite a bit for a whole range of situations. Portraits and Landscapes will be a doddle for that lens, however, the AF isn't as fast as I was expected, but it hasn't caused any problems.

instead of starting a new thread im going to ask a few questions regarding this lens if thats okay...

when you say af isnt fast is it slower than the 1.8d version.reviews/people said the 85 1.4g wasnt as fast as the d version but ive had no problems with its Af speed.

is there a noticable differance in this over the 1.8d version is sharpness at 1.8,and how does it compair at 1.4 vs the 1.8d at 1.8..

im asking as i used to love my 50 1.8d until i got a 85 1.4g and now it doesnt excite me at all as its now where near as sharp,so ive been thinking about getting the 1.4g or d to replace it,is this worth doing.

I mean all lenses are going to be different and I could of course have a 'no so good' copy, but I was quite disappointed in the sharpness of my 1.4 G, only starts to get acceptably sharp for me at 2.2 but I guess every lens is a bit soft wide open I just expected the 1.4G to be better...

this is my problem i think as i said in your lens post my 85 is super sharp even wide open(in my eyes) so i think i will find it hard for any lens to compair.
