I just bought one. zoom is nice indeed but picture quality is, well a bit above average IMO. maybe it's because I'm used to 7D? If you look at the photos without cropping they look nice and clear but if you want to crop even a bit, you can see that detail is gone. Zoom is rather slow and AF as well. Image stabiliser is not that bad but if you zoom to the max you'll struggle. It doesn't have a RAW mode either. ISO can be expanded to 12800 but personally, I wouldn't go anywhere above ISO 400.
I didn't try video mode yet but intersting mode for me is HS 120 which enables you to record movies with 120 FPS. This camera is loaded with really useful features and it takes time to get used to all of them. 42x zoom has some negative effect on IQ as expected but I was expecting a bit more from Nikon. I think Panasonic FZ-150 still has the edge(apart from the zoom).
If you want it just for fun and have around £260 spare(
second hand) then go for it. It will definitely give you lot of joy.
