Regarding using single point focus. Set your camera on a tripod and take the same shot using different focus points. Sounds daft but I have read somewhere in the distant past that someone returned his Dxxx because one of the focus points was not accurate!
Try not to drink before shooting lolJust tried that and viewing focus points in RAW did show it was bang on what I had the points on. All eleven shots were bang on. Subject was about eight feet or so away. and kit lens set to 50mm. I did this with the camera on a tripod. I know at greater distances it will be difficult to get focus point bang on.
Obviously it is me, I must be wobbling camera as I take the shot.
I use this most of the time. I believe you can even set minimum shutter to auto to match focal length.I just had to consult the d3300 book for dummies as i dont usually use auto ISO and i was a little confused on the menu settings ,quite interesting option
so can set minimum shutter speed and max iso so can concentrate on the composition a bit more.its not something i would use say if tripod shooting say a landscape but useful for say street or where perhaps not enough time to mess with the settings
That reads like he thinks it's sunny when it isn't...Interesting,
Also if you dont want your head messing with dont read this.i did lol

Common Darter Dragonfly Close 1 by Ben Gray, on FlickrThat was with a 36mm extension tube aswell I think and a little bit of cropping.Nice Ben,what did you use to get that close, just the lens then crop or did you use a closeup filter.
Who me?Get a Tamron 70-300 VC - the IS is superb.
I will get a suitable zoom to stick on my body, just waiting to have some cash to splash.Yes - you with the shaky hands![]()

You havent got a dlsr to put it on unless your keeping something to yourselfI know the feeling. The price of the Tamron I mentioned has gone up from £200 ish to £299 in the last 12 months. I'd snap it up if it was at its old price.
I have a birthday coming up soon. Missus asked me do I want a lens or a flash for my D3300. I don't really want her to spend money on me, other than socks or undies type of stuff. Although knowing how her mind works, if I say I will have a flash, I will probably get an early morning blimp.![]()
