Nikon D800?

Lordy, there's some foaming nutjobs in that comments section! It's a camera, not life or death... ;)

Agree that the pics look like a Photoshop lashup tho, some of the angles are very weird, unless it's an ergonomical whatchamathingy...
 
So a smaller and lighter body, but over twice the resolution?

Why?

Think I'll be sticking with my D700 and 2TB of HD space.
 
The Liveview arrangement is not something I can remember seeing on any previous Nikon camera. :shrug:

It does look an interesting design though, and I can see that whoever did it put some thought into it. :clap:
 
the post saying it was fake was not by the admin just soneone using his logo and a similar name. he still insists its real.
no release date yet but there are ment to be alot of events with nikon dealers between the 2nd and 4th december
 
I certainly have my doubts about the 36mp. Megapixels aren't something Nikon are known for going through the roof with.

Yes but if they do not build their own fx sensors any more they are basically stuck with what sony has to offer and the rumours talk about a 36mp sony FF so it kinda makes sense
 
Like last time, I think the D3 or D300 will be replaced first.

The D300, ignoring the the 'S' update is older than the D700 and is in most need of an update after the release of the D7000.

The D700 is still selling well and still getting great reviews, and I doubt that Nikon would release a higher Mp Full Frame sensor before the D3S replacement. Now that Canon have announced the 1DX, I believe that they will have something professional before the Olympics.

That is all assuming that Nikon are in position to release any new hardware after the Earthquake/Tsunami in Japan, and the Floods in Thailand, both of which must have understandably had a major affect on their plans.

Add to that the release of the Nikon 1 series and their resources may be stretched very thin.
 
Nikon rumors tend to be correct in their predictions, so this is probably real. 36mp resolution does seem a bit excessive though.

Uh, not really. Everything is on a different focal plane, the battery grip is a different resolution to the rest and it's had the background badly chopped out.

The camera may be real, but that photo most certainly isn't.
 
Remember all the Canon rumours about a 1Ds MK IV at 36Mp.

Yeah those rumours turned out to be true - NOT.

Having said that, maybe Nikon will bring out the D800 with 36Mb and a D4 with 18-24Mp but faster frame rate.

A bit like a lot of people are expecting a 5D III with a higher resolution than the 1Dx.

Anybodies guess really until they are announced.

Yep, working on the "if you keep saying it eventually you'll be right" principle has stood them in good stead so far :lol:
 
Do realize that a 36 megapixal sensor full frame is the equivalent of 18 megapixal aps-c. The 24 megapixal FF Sony sensor has been outstanding for Sony, Nikon, and Pentax, so I'd not write a 36 one off.

The one in the A900 and D3x. Not the exact same sensor but they are made by Sony. Not sure what the Pentax has.

I will also say that Nikonrumors has been accurate on many lenses and bodies. I know the pics look odd on their site but if all the specs are true then this would be what looks like to be an upgraded junior D3x.

its the old theory of say it often enough and you'll be right eventually with them.

Guys, I have a very real professional interest in knowing what's in the pipeline. So I pay a lot of interest to NikonRumors and CanonRumors, or at least I used to until I realised that 99% of what they say is rubbish. Neither of them has got any significant lens announcement right in the last 3 years, and their record for bodies is almost as bad. It's just a bit of fun to give the fanboys something to salivate over.
