Hey Guys

Im currently just doing club photography at the moment and using my Sb600 slah on my Nikon D90 but beacuse of all the moving around and wel...having fun the flash is now starting to rock on the Hotshoe off the camera.

How do i sort this out so i can get it back rite, my friend had the same problem and his flash now flashes all the time just randomly when out in the club and its so anoying lol

Cheers

Andy :bonk:

The SB600 has a slightly thinner hotshoe than the one on the D90 so they do tend to rock a little but not so much as that it triggers the flash.

When you say it rocks, how much are you talking? The two mounts are made of metal so there should be no way that just using them together would bend the metal, unless you were really throwing it around.

Its hard to explain it lol say you have the camera on a table and you have the speedlight locked in place you can rock the speedlight back and forth now im not talking in a big way im talkin least a couple of mm back and forth, i just dont want it to get any worse so wonderd if there was any way i can fix the problem.

As I said earlier this isnt because you have damaged it, it is more than likely caused by the hotshoe on the D90 not being as thick as the one on the SB600, mine does the same on my D80 and my D300s and my SB400 used to do it on my D40x but the SB900 has a thicker hotshoe and therefore doesnt budge.

I dont think it is anything to be worried about though.

Ok fella thanks for the advice :) i might sell the Sb600 to a friend and get a SB900 lol any excuse to buy somthin, just one ? for ya dude what wuld be the benefit if i went upto the 900 from the 600 ?

If you feel that you get on ok without one then you probably dont need one, there are a few other features as well but also keep in mind that the SB900 is quite a bit bigger than a SB600 so it can end up looking unbalanced when on a smaller body.
