Hi guys,

What are the benefits of the upgrade?? Or **** i go for a decent lens? If so can i get much for a secondhand d90?
 
Better lens I think, I've got both 300s and 90 and there's no difference in image quality between them, love them both, stick with the 90 and get some lenses
 
What are the noticeable differences on the d700?? As its the same image quality for each isnt it? 12mp
 
Really want a 18-35mm ED Lens next

Well it's full frame on a FX body but wouldn't offer anything over what you already have for DX body.
You look to be very well covered lens wise the only thing I see your short of is a ultra wide and they are not everyone's cuppa.
If you go the D700 route then it would make sense to sell your 18-105mm DX lens with the D90 body.

Lower noise at extreme high iso providing you get the exposure right in low light.
You have the same number of pixels 12mp but on a sensor nearly twice the size of a DX one.
 
So the d300s would also offer these benefits??

Your D90 and D300 share the same size sensor
the D700 D3 D3s & D3x all have a larger sensor.
The first 3 have 12mp and the D3x has 24mp but its high iso isnt a match for the 12mp sensor :)
 
Oh ok, sorry. So the d700 would make a big difference? I mainly take nature shots but do deal with some late night city scapes, fireworks and light trails this time of the yr..

I don't think you will see that big a difference to be honest.
I did some low available light shots in the studio last year with a friend they shot with a D300 and I used my D3.
same iso settings and when printed out you couldn't tell which were off which camera.
If your into your nature I think you would possibly miss the benefit of the crop/DX sensor as it gives you half as much reaach again ie your 70-300mm gives an eq. of 450mm on the long end.
 
Maybe i should just get nice wide angle lens to replace kit lens then upgrade to fx at later time..

Well if you think you are going to go the FX route eventually?
I would pick your wide angle lens very carefully don't just buy a W/A because you haven't got one in your kit bag.
I would recommend to anyone only to buy another lens when you have found yourself in a position where you can't get the shot you want with your existing kit.
If you haven't had any need for one in the past chances are you may not need one at all.
A lot depends on the sort of subject you shoot.

it might be worth investing in faster glass rather than a higher performing body - 17-55/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 VR are the two that spring to mind on the crop. I dont' think there is much value in buying lenses for a crop that you will use on a full frame when you son't appear to have certain plans to go that way - it does limit you on a crop as they tend to be narrower focal ranges.
