Nikon FG - weird setting

Yes
Put a film in the Nikon FG that I bought this week and went for a walk into town. The film had been put in correctly and the shutter button pressed a couple of times. Ready to take a shot and ... the LED display showed 2 red lights on shutter speeds 125 and 60. No matter what aperture I set, the same two LEDs came on. Took a shot in aperture mode and went home. Changed the lens, changed the batteries etc etc. Still same 2 lights.
Quick google on the problem and "Check the film counter: The camera has a safety feature that fires at 1/90s until you advance the film past the "S" (Start) position and reach frame 1. Make sure you have wound the film past "S". [1, 2]"
That's a new one on me. I'd been on You Tube and there was no mention of this
Any other cameras that has the same setting?

I'm pretty sure the electronic Nikon's does the same as the FG, it stops the shutter and mirror locking up if you're putting a fresh film in with the lens cap on or a body cap on, obviously this wouldn't happen with a manual camera like the FM etc.
erm what about if you don't put a film in? My F4 fires etc without film. Can't check my FM as it's developed a fault in that the batteries have started to short out and drain in a few hours

The Nikon FM's meter is designed to only activate once the frame counter reaches 1. This is a built-in battery-saving mechanism
Think it's from a discussion on Reddit. Think the quote text is FALSE.

This part makes more sense:
The film-advance lever doubles as the meter's switch—pulling it out to the 30° "stand-off" position uncovers a red dot and turns the circuit on.
This ensures the light meter isn't accidentally activated in a camera bag or while you are still spooling the dark leader onto the take-up reel.
It's a clever way to save your batteries, but it occasionally leads to confusion if someone thinks their meter is broken when testing it on a brand-new roll.

This part is not true? "However, as you noted, the circuit is physically prevented from completing until the frame counter ticks past 'S' (Start) and clicks into '1'."

ok , yes the wind on lever on the fm acts as the on off switch ( and stays on ) ,on the fm2n ,it switches off after a short time even if the lever is left out.

where did this come from? dosent do it on mine.
On the electronic cameras, my F4 and F90x................ the shutter and exposure meter work without winding on to start (No film). Also got a EM but can't be bothered to check without putting in a battery, anyway can't remember if it shows exposure meter reading.
