Hi,

Last night I decided to(in a moment of madness) place a bid on a faulty Nikon 18-200 lens which was being sold locally to me on that auction website we all know about. The fault was described as both the focus and zoom rings wouldn't turn. I ended up winning the listing, which I will be picking up today this afternoon in person saving on postage, I had emailed Fixation a few days ago asking them if they could diagnose and problem(hard I know without having the lens there in front of them) but I've not heard back from them, so before I send it off I thought I'd ask on here to see what the problem might be. I could end up with a doorstop which would make for interesting conversation!!

Normally I wouldn't bother with faulty items, but I thought it might be worth a punt if it can be repaired for less than buying one that works(I've seen them sold on here for around £350+) I have all the bits that it comes with from new(box, bag, caps, hood etc)

Mike.

Sigma UK did a lens for me (just got it back today) and charged me about £82 to do the focus ring.

Nikon UK will want £160+, Fixation I think would be £120+.

a common fault is lens being dropped down on the front element in camera bags they ownley protect to a degree.
make sure fixation give you a quote before they go ahead
