which macro lens people suggest pls to go with my D750

I use a Nikkor 105mm VR f/2.8 which only really beats my old Tamron 90mm f/2.8 by having the VR. Both (and the Sigma 105mm f/2.8) go to "true" macro 1:1 magnification at closest focussing distance. There's a new kid on the block too - IIRC it's made by a company called Venus. Have a look in the Macro and Close Up section for a review and some sample images. That will do 2:1 magnification.
 
Depends if you need/want VR as well as what you'll be using it for wrt focal length. I've have the Tamron 90mm for 5 years and it's pretty fantastic, light and cheap enough. I don't use it that often so suits me fine.
 
Well I was looking at the 60mm version that i have seen on offer 2nd hand of course for £210 but think i may get the 105mm
 
Have a look at the equivalent Sigma 105mm f2.8 as it's very good indeed, apart from the focus hunting a bit if you go from infinity to minimum focus but why would you?
 
Had a sigma when i had the canon didn't like it at all..
 
Nikon don't actually recommend the use of VR for macro, I have the 105 and never have VR turned on
even when using extension tubes
 
HI I use the older Nikon AFD 105mm f2.8 and AFD 60mm f2.8 which are perfectly ok and if I'm honest I wasn't impressed with the 105VR I p/x for a 85mm f1.4.
I know the new Sigma 105mm f 2.8 OS is a stunning optic as was there previous version.
If you want something longer then Sigma has a 180mm macro or if money is no object the Nikon AFD 200mm micro Nikkor f4.0 is a stunner and gives you a longer working distance from your subject.

The longer the focal length the greater your working distance will be, also makes it easier to light your subject as well
Recently used my 70-200mm with 2x and got results I was very pleased with.

The Sigma 105mm OS is the pick of the bunch at the moment, it's a truly stunning lens.

The current Sigma is the mk2 version. I've not used the Mk1 sigma but other than different optics it didn't have OS either.

But the mk1 was supposed also to to be a stellar performer.

When I'm using it for macro, I switch the VR off but when I'm using it as a short telephoto, the VR is handy. On FF, it's a great portrait lens.

That what I was thinking but wonder how this compare to sigma since sigma cheaper
 
My advice is..........DONT BUY A NIKON lens, they are over rated and over priced. Look at sigma, tamron, tokina (my choice) or new to the market and highly rated is the Venus.
 
Depending on for what purpose.

If for product photography flowers, etc. I recommend the ultimate macro lens - PC-E Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/2.8D or significantly cheaper and still very good is Nikkor AF-S 60mm 2.8G.

AF on most macro lenses is slow, it's not really what they're designed for. AF is rarely used when shooting macro anyway.

TBH if you're shooting macro and are relying on the AF, you're doing it wrong!

I only use AF on mine when I'm shooting portraits or landscapes.

Has anyone here got the Nikon 60mm Macro as I been offered one for £200
 
Am pretty sure it the G will find out.
