Hey everyone,

I'm a beginner in photography using a Nikon D60 and would like a replacement for my current Nikon 55-200mm AF-S VR lens. I'd like something that will produce sharper photos with longer zoom and quicker auto focus.

The main use for the replacement would be motorsport photography and other general use.

I've seen the Nikon 70-300mm AF-S VR lens. What is your opinions of this lens? Does it justify the ~£400 price tag, and will it meet the requirements i posted above?

Thanks in advance for your help :D

I bought this lens just after Christmas and can honestly say it is a cracking lens for the dosh. Having looked into it quite a lot it seems that the majority of people that buy the Sigma and other variants seem to end up changing the the Nikon in the end.

Very good lens, fast AF, sharp across the range and a pleasure to use.

This is the latest photo taken with it in the garden....

Hope this helps

Yup, its very good.

Next to the 70-200VR or any of the Nikkor long primes, this would be my next choice.

Best bang for buck when it comes to motorsport photography.

taken with the 70-300VR earlier this year. I owned a new 300mm f/4 AF-S, and although it's a storming lens, I wouldn't have gotten this shot with it, because I wouldn't have had time to move and shoot. On a tripod, the f/4 is really twice as good, at twice the price. For the other 99% of the time, this is the better lens.
