No
Going to send one of my D700's in to have a hot pixel remapped out (utter pain in the balls) and was wondering how Nikon usually take to do this kind of work and get the unit back to you?

Cheers

R.

Surely that will all depend on how busy their workload is? Have you asked them to give you an estimated turnaround time?

My lens took 5/6 weeks I seem to remember. Just allow for that and be pleased if its earlier. :D

My lens (24-70 AF-S) took close to six weeks to get back to me :( .. mind you, I know of another one that was sent to them and took about 2 weeks.

I guess, it's a factor of how busy they are .. as has already been said.

My suggestion would be to send it as soon as you can. It will only irritate you more to keep it without fixing it.

I was quoted 3 weeks, and they had the work done in 5 days plus shipping time (next day). I guess their time estimates depend on what else they have to do at the time?

Some of mine from memory:

Fixation - Sent RMSD Friday, received back following Friday, 5 working days (warranty)
Nikon UK - lens, 4 days (clean aperture blades, freebie)
Nikon UK - 3 weeks (lens had iron filing type contamination), 3 weeks, warranty
Nikon UK - 2 weeks (lens had contamination), warranty
Nikon UK - 8 weeks (D200), s/h unit so not under warranty.

I was going to do that actually, got the two bodies, 2 lenses and almost two SB800's - will nick a serial number from a friend.

Good shout *** fella, thanks!

That doesnt work I'm afraid. All you get onto is the pro user scheme. Not the same scheme as pro's who have to prove an income. they get loan lenses and quicker service. I tried.;)

Really? I heard they stopped making you prove an income now?

You have to register your gear, including the serial number....of course, it can't be registered to two different users, the computer will recognise that! If you qualify for Pro status then you get pasword entry into the Pro section.

When I joined, Susie Kean was the administrator and you had to be invited to join. The publication then was Nikon News....not Nikon Pro. I still have the early ones!

But do they give you preferential treatment for repairs, and do you need to prove you are earning an income from the kit?
