Nikon User help please

Hey all!
I am like a fish out of water here.

Quick q - relative has got a Nikon D70 and a sigma 1.4TC. It fits with her 170-500 sigma but not with her nikon AF70-300 or AFS 18-70.
Am I right in thinking it will only fit and work with sigma lenses?

Basically yes. (it will fit to a couple of Nikon lenses, but not those)

The Sigma website shows a nice compatibility table, worth looking at, just a Google away.

Checked sigma tables but didnt mention any nikon compatible lenses.

Exactly

Technically they are not compatible with any other lenses but the ones on the table, but I've got a couple to work on Nikon lenses (300mm f/4 AF-S, 80-200 f/2.8 AF-S)
