Yes
My D200 is coming up to 2yrs old, and I've received 2 letters(1 from Homeserve and 1 Nikon) indicating that I can now extend my warranty for a further year for £125.

Which in itself seems expensive, but they also offer "insurance" which would pay out if it were Damaged,Lost or stolen. Replacing it with a equivilant(sp?)current model.

Anyway, after some thought I'd decided to not extend it, after all I've managed to not break it in 2 years.

Yesterday, I receive a phone call from Nikon (Actually Homeserve but never mind) telling me that as a valued customer I could be entitled to a loyalty "discount", Ahh, I thought maybe I should extend, if I'm getting it cheaper.

Homeserve lady:
Yes we could give you a discount of £6, Making the premium only £119.:bonk:

Me:
Err, No thanks

Homeserve lady:
Well, if you change your mind, give me call.

So, In view of the outstanding discount I'm likely to receive, do you think I should go for it.:p

 funnily enough having just sorted out the fact that my d300 has another year to run - nikon hadn't passed info onto homeserve - and finally received the paperwork, today I got a call from Homeserve.

Would I like to pay now to extend it to 3 years, AND increase my current warranty cover to include accidental damage and theft?

Me: No thanks, its covered on my contenst insurance as an additional 'special' item

Her: Yes, I appreciate that, but you probably have an excess to pay

Me: yes, £50, which compared to value of camera I consider to be worth it

Her: There is no excess with our extended policy

Me: but how much extra is it going to cost me

Her: £8.25 a month.....

....now my maths aren't brilliant, but even I can see the flaw in her argument here

Me: er thanks, but no thanks....bye

You would have gotten the full value out of it if you had taken it out when you first bought your camera. I don,t normally take out extended warranties.
The reason I did it this time is because it also gave me insurance for all three years.I opted to pay it by direct debit over the first year with no interest charged.I will hardly notice just over ten pounds a month and gives me peace of mind for three years.
I f you take it out now you have lost out on two years of insurance but paying the same price.

And pay an extra £30, it was £90 for the third year 2 years ago.:bang:

Homeserve are a really good company if you have a claim

Not for me they wouldn't be, they had my D300 recorded as a D200, with a different serial number  Given that that mix-up happened 11.5 months ago and I'm still waiting for the 2nd year paperwork I wouldn't fancy my chances if it came to a claim...
