Nikon Warranty - Transferrable or not????

No
I know the general feeling is not.

However, I've recently sold my D3x to a dealer. A bit of a stumbling block is that I can't find the documentation round the extended warranty. My understanding was that they were'nt transferrable - so what's the problem?

They say they want it in case any work needs doing.... Are they doing a dodgy?

Was going to back this up with a proper link but a quick googling only found an official answer on Nikon Canada. In short, no...the warranty is only valid for the original purchaser.

If they do try that then I will be having the camera back. They got it at a bargain price anyway, so I will just take it back and stick it on ebay.

it's a real nuisance when people do this sort of thing.

Now I was always under the impression that the answer was most definately no....but oddly it isn't mentioned here, other than in the international warranty bit at the bottom which doesn't cover digital cameras anyway... NIkon manufacturer warranty - europe

It no longer mentions the 'non-transferable' bit in the 2 year extended cover either

All very odd IMO, they used to make it very clear indeed.

edit: ah, here is the page I was looking for, which google found, and where the non-tansferability is very clear, but it is still odd that I can't navigate to that from www.nikon.co.uk

http://www3.europe-nikon.com/support/en_GB/local/broad/432/1.html

please also note the copyright at the bottom of the pages. The first one is this year, so NOT mentioning the transferability is NEW, the second link is from 2 years ago...... curiouser and curiouser ....

Problem over - Nikon screwed the warranty up, logged it with Homeserve as only a 1 year rather than two year.

Once I got NPU involved they honoured the 2nd year and all is fine again :D:D

Maybe they've changed their conditions, but a couple of years ago the warranty on Nikon was definitely not transferrable - I had that direct from Nikon themselves. For this reason, we stopped taking Nikon binoculars in part-exchange.
