Hi,
I'm looking to buy my first flash.
Just wondered if any of you guys use this flashgun? and if its worth the money or a waste of time? Also is it worth the extra for the MkII or just go for the DI622? Will be using it on the Nikon D90.

Don't know about the MkII, but my Mk1 is fine. Well built, pretty powerful and simple to use.
 
I am looking at the Nissin Di622 range and G&&gling it seems as though the MKII includes some additional features. Cannot find any pages that actually compare both.
 
Ive have two version 1's I bought them when I had my Canon, but I still use them now with the D700 as slaves fired remotely.

Easy to use, well built, fast recycling. When funds allow, Ill buy a Nikon mount to use on the camera too. Never used the new one, but it can only be better I'd have thought, its whether the price is proportional.

Here is another link as well. Looks like the MKII offers wireless trigger where as the Mark I does not.

Depends if you are planning on using it wireless, and as pointed out above the price difference.

I think the MK2 can be used with dumb triggers and old film cameras, and you can adjust exposure compensation on the actual flash.

I use the Mk11 and I like it.
It doesn't do High Speed Sync, but so far that hasn't bothered me.
 
I also shoot with a 7D and my mkII works beautifully in wireless mode which uses ETTL but when i put it on slave digital mode so i can manually control the strength of the flash it does fire the flash but the image is pitch black as if the flash is out of sync with the shutter. do you know how to get it working properly in slave digital mode?
 
There's 2 optical slave modes, make sure you are using the right one. I think optical slave mode 1 is digital and ignores the digital pre flash and fires on the second flash. Optical slave mode 2 is fully manual and will fire when it sees a flash.
 
i use a Di622 MKI and think it's a great bit of kit. highly recommend for the price.
 
I had one but the lack of high speed sync crippled me too much to keep it. Otherwise it was fine.
