There are always threads asking what kit to take on holiday and my advice is to take as much as you possibly can. Typically, I failed to take my own advice, so left a couple of lenses behind - the 50mm f/1.8 and the 90mm Macro.
In one respect, this was a good and lucky move - for the first time in 13 years (about 20 trips) of going to Crete, they weighed my hand baggage! It was well over the 5kg allowance, so I simply took out the 2 heaviest lenses (12-24 and 24-70), put them in my fleece pocket (fleece = pillow during flight and very welcome on return!) and that brought the weight down just enough for my winning smile to melt the heart of the check-in girl and let the other kilo through.
In another way,SNod's law applied - saw a few bugs and beetles that stayed still enough for long enough that the 90mm would have got plenty of use. Never mind! I'll take it next year in the hope that they pay us another visit (which, of course, they won't!) but not sure what to leave behind to save weight! Could have done with the flash as well but the built in was just about enough for what I wanted it for.
