Got a new Nokia N97 Mini on Saturday - its amazing! The keyboard is super(all posts today have been on it, and now), a world away from my 5800. So easy surfing the web using the arrow keys rather than having to use the ouch screen. I took a photo on it, edited down to size and have uploaded it on here, just can't seem to copy and paste the url into a new thread.... Excellent qualitu Bbc iplayer too, and you tube, very sharp and hardly blocky transitions.

However......I have noticed something not soo good..... The audio quality is pretty rubbish, being very tinny and fuzzy, and having no depth. My 5800s miles better, which is odd as they both have dual stereo speakers.....told vodafone and they're swapping it for another nxt monday, as it might just be a fault.

Still, pretty super, and for 300 mins, unlimited texts and internet, on the best network, £20 pm seems a bargain to me.

Awful awful phone...

1) It comes with the oldest/clunky/poor OS shipping with any phone at the moment Symbian S60

2) Nokia have no made Symbian an open OS to try promote it, with an awful app store

3) the N97 touchscreen is no better than a £60 LG Cookie

4) Cheap and tacky!

So took mine back and got an android phone!

Good luck with yours though :D

i hated my n97 with a passion
so slow and terrible os
the touch screen was awful and not enough memory to run anything
hope your n97 mini is better
speakers are probably fine they are crap compared to the 5800 music phone

The n97 mini is the best phone I have used in ages and its a lot better than the n97 which did have lots of problems

Wow, I thought this was a great phone! It certainly seems to handle lots of apps open at the same time...personally, I'd say its a billion times better than the cookie my gran has-much better screen etc.

I have had mine for 2 months now and havent had a single problem with it, its brilliant and does everything I want

Nokia have lost plot on phones.

The ceo has made a statement only a week ok to apologise

Are you into technology phone based?

Or are you the type to say oh nice phone ill get it because it looks nice, like my GF's dad does with 90% of things :D

How do you live with Symbian?

I like the ovi store with all the apps - poor mans iphone for me!

None of the above, I have the phone because it does everything I need from a mobile device with no problems at all and Symbian is just another platform like Android or Win mob it is tried and tested and has stood the test for a great many years, I dont see what the problem is

I don't have a problem with Symbian, seems fine to me.

I have to say I think the Symbian S60 v3 software on my E72 is excellent, I've got apps for everything I want to do, yes its no iPhone but do I really want a fart app?
Symbian is good at what it does, its the most widely used Smartphone OS and going forward its probably going to remain as a basic smartphone OS, it does all the basics although personally I do hope we see Maemo / Meego on the High End Nokia Handsets in future as it already is looking really good and even just for the games that are being ported over!!! I'm tempted to get an N900 just as a Linux toy to play with.

I can't complain with the Symbian OS either. My nokia has given me hassle free smartphoning since I got it. Like chrism, I have the apps for what I need on my Nokia 5800 and it suits me to a tee.
I also like the touch screen and the screen size is great for video playback, internet browsing and running my Garmin mobile sat nav software.

Yeah it was pants, but there has been 2 pretty big updates this year, i actually love mine at the moment since the last, it really isnt the same phone it was originally. Just why they couldnt have launched them like this as i very much doubt there get over the its crap.

Does anyone have/or heard the 5800 music playback thru the speaker? Cos, it is rubbish thru the N97s al tinny and fuzzy. I am getting a replacemnet...but if this standard, might not keep it as music playback is a big one for me...:thinkingL

The playback on the 5800 is far superior with its twin speakers. It produces better base and treble sound than the N97 (mini)

Thats whats getting me..the N97 mini has dual speakers as well....dunno if its just me, but I would've thought the top end handset would have good sound, rather than sound that it worse than the sub £80 LG Cookie, which beats this £400 business phone! I'm thinking, Nokia X6...which voda have offered...at least better sound, and capacitive...but I do like th way I can use the keyboard on this...and the email....hmmmm what do you think?

the sound from the nokia 5800 is far superior to that of the n97
we have a couple of them in use and i actually preferred them to the n97 when it was released
russdaz i no doubt that the n97 is vastly improved now but it just frustrated me so much when i had it
what with all the hype of promised software updates etc i felt like a guinea pig

Lets all stop going on about the sound quality from the 97mini........yes the 5800 sounds better and so does the iphone, thats down to them being brought out as dedicated music phones and the n97/97mini is a business phone and NOT a music phone so how is it fair to compare them its like putting a fiesta up against a ferrari:cuckoo:
