Just been looking at the petitions on the No10 website and found this

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to End the routine harassment of railway enthusiasts, especially those taking photographs, on security grounds and to replace the presumption of guilt implicit in the Association of Train Operating Companies/Network Rail/British Transport Police “Guidelines for Rail Enthusiasts” with an instruction to staff not to challenge individuals whose activities clearly constitute neither a threat to security nor the safe functioning of railway premises."

It's been signed by nearly 2000 people.

Anyone on here got any stories to tell?

David

Perhaps a petition that wasn't specific to any one group and was signed by anyone and everyone who felt their freedom was being impeded would do better?

In the dim and distant - at least 20 years ago - my dad and I would do some railway enthusing (I was young and naive etc etc) and this was an issue then. We had a major falling out with some guy in a uniform at Longsight and there was a particularly rude and unhelpful man at Crewe but we found that most times if we told people what we were doing and why then there wasn't an issue.

Nothing new here.
