I took 100s of images of a rugby match a while ago, now 1 of the players wants a load of the images to make a collage using some of my images. Do I charge him for them or just give them him.

Although that does depend on what other benefit you could derive - for example i quite frequently give cds of my photos to the subject (particularly if they are charities or not for profit clubs) for non exclusive use - this breeds goodwill and has in the past allowed me to establish a relationship that then gave me access to get shots beyond that that Joe public has

(for example i gave a wildlife centre a cd of my work free , and subsequently had exclusive into enclosure acccess with a keeper with me exclusively for a whole after hours session - which allowed me to get shots that you couldnt get from outside the wire)

in this case would any possible benefit derive from giving pictures to the team - touchline access next season for example ? etc

So many factors Julian. Ideally we'd all get paid well for our work, after all we're using expensive kit that we've paid for. But, is this young kids rugby, or adults from an affluent club, are they friends? Is this for personal use?

Could you put the collage together and get it printed as a poster, adding value for money and charging a bit more, or do you want to build up good will and hence say just give me something towards a drink/fuel costs/more bling bits for the chariot :D

At the end of the day it'll be your decision, but nice to see your talent getting recognised either way.

Charge him a fee for the CD, and them add time onto it. Maybe £20? wont take you 5 mins ot sort it out and its a nice easy £20!
