In that case step right in... Table for Steve  pull up a chair, but i'd leave the complementary peanuts well alone If I were you.;)

And the chocolate covered raisins aren't very nice either....:puke:

Another DIY plastic fantastic from me, the Recesky 35mm TLR:

Was quite fun to build and I've enjoyed putting my first roll through it, fingers crossed on the results...

Love the write-up as well.

Yeah, quality innit

Apologies for the shoddy camera work and the subject matter of the Polaroid but I've just taken my first Polaroid shot for about 30 years.

Bargain ebay purchase of the back for the recently serviced RZ67, Fuji instant film from 7dayshop that I ordered 3pm Saturday and arrived this morning.

I'm chuffed to bits, I love the Polaroid look and it's nice to be able to attach it to something decent and the film stock is not too expensive at £7.79 a pack only £6.29 if you want the 'silk' finish.

Right, now I'm in the 70's mood I'm off to find a restaurant where I can get a prawn cocktail, a big fat juicy steak and black forest gateaux all washed down with a nice bottle of Liebfraumilch.

I'm always enticed by the idea of the Polaroid backs, but realise the RB/RZ67s are rather large cameras for Polaroid...!

You should have seen him carting the blimmin' thing round London on the film meet, he got some funny looks! ;)

Not a new toy but an old one that's going to be cleaned, my Canon 85-300mm f4.5 SSC beast.

I did have this up for sale as spares or repair due to a fungus infection but after Miles Whitehead was able to rescue another lens that had been written off by another repairer, I've removed it from the bay and my classified thread and I'm going to keep it.

I remember finding the lens in a camera shop in Sydney and being chuffed at having such a versatile big zoom. This morning I was going through some old shots and found the ones where I was trying it out and I was surprised at how good the IQ was, which made up my mind.

I don't feel the need for a specialist lens such as a tilt/shift and given the prices they go for secondhand I can't justify the expense so my FD collection is pretty much complete.

Canon FD 50mm f/1.4
Canon FD 85mm f/1.8
Canon FD 135mm f/2.8
Canon FD 200mm f/2.8
Canon FD 20-35mm f/3.5 L
Canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5
Canon FD 80-200mm f/4 L
Canon FD 85-300mm f/4.5 SSC (B/L)

The only lens I could be tempted by now is a 35mm f/2 to use as a walkabout but I've got two zooms that cover that length already so it's not a priority. :)

I was shooting some Polaroid last week on the RB67 and had the odd comment, "Don't see many people using Polarois these days".

It gives a nice instant hit, and the minimal (nonexistant) exposure leeway certainly gives instant feedback on my metering techniques. I shot some FP-3000B at a friends wedding.. the quality of the print is quite remarkable. If only the FP-3000B was at a price closer to the colour packs..

That looks brilliant. I have a Polaroid back for my ETRS but the image is so tiny it seems like a waste of money shooting them so I end up just bracketing instead. Maybe if I ever started using flashes properly it'd be more useful!

I got this through the post the other day:

pentax67h.jpg

Absolutely gigantic but really nice to hold. The grip is kinda pointless other than it's good for carrying; it makes it hard to focus and adds a decent amount of weight. I've only put 1 roll through it at the moment although the results are promising!

That's fantastic, I always lusted after the 67, it's such an imposing camera and the image quality seems excellent. I may have to sell a few more of the collection to get the funds together.

I got a Pentax 67 earlier in the year and have shot a far bit of film with it, mine is a little more batterd that yours but they are fantasic and the 105 lens is a corker.

The handle is ok for using a flash gun but it will only sync to 1/30th so a bit limiting with what you can do, but it makes it really easy to carry.

RaglanSurf, you won't regret it! They're dirt cheap at the moment as well, it seems.

So far I'm very much enjoying it. I have the 90/2.8 on it rather than the 105, which apparently isn't as sharp etc but from the test roll I see no problems with it at all! I'm not a massive flash head anyways so the low sync speed doesn't bother me too much, luckily. If I was using a flash regularly I'd have gone for something else most probably :)

Finally, I got my grubby mitts on my Yashica Electro 35 GX yesterday.

Yashica Electro 35 GX by Strappster, on Flickr

It's a lovely thing to hold, everything's got that solid mechanical feel, the rangefinder window is crystal clear and easy to focus, can't wait to get some batteries :D

In case you're wondering why I've pictured it with a ruler, when I was searching for information on these cameras I found a lot of pictures of them but none that gave any proper indication of the size (picturing it next to other Yashica RFs doesn't really help) so this is quite possibly a unique picture. :)

^ potentially very useful, getting good reference pictures for cameras is often very difficult! Many parts of cameras are also never snapped, which could be very handy at times.

35mm RF are the one thing I've never delved into.

Having followed this thread avidly (and jealously) for a good while now I think that between us we could probably set up our own reference website for film cameras with photos, descriptions and sample shots. Just a whimsical thought really but it would probably be very useful to a lot of people.

Andy

Good point, well made. :D

You'll be very happy with it. One gripe is that you have to refocus between each shot, but you can get around that by tapping the MF button once you get focus lock (which you can do pretty quickly with practice). Now get learning all those secret commands and buy an ND filter!

Yippee! Picked up a secondhand Fuji X100 - can't wait to play.....

Phil

No worries - if I'd have bought one of those, I'd have been wanting to share the news with pretty much everyone ;)

Nice T70 with 50mm f1.8 FDn lens for £15 at the bootie.....for me I got what I wanted and didn't want, LBA kicked in when I saw a Canon 50mm f1.4 but it was on camera and the seller wouldn't split, all for £30? erm well I'd pay that on bay for the lens alone and what were the chance of seeing that lens at a bootie again? So I'm stuck with an A1 camera body :)

OK I'm a little green after reading that.

I did pick up a tidy lookong Tamron Adaptall 2 80-210mm f3.8-4 complete with its Tamron leather hard case for six quid at a car boot this morning.

And a very nice Style 4 Ilford Sportsman RF with a factory fresh case for £3.50.

If it is 103a or 03a it should be a good lens IIRC (as I have them both) can't remember details ATM as if I use a Tamron it's the 70-210 46a or Kiron 80-200 f4

It's a 103A. Nicely built like the 35-70 Adaptall I already have.

It'll have to compete with my Canon FDn 70-210 f/4 for bag space, but if it's as good as the 35-70 it may well win out.

Can't complain for the price of a couple of pints.

I got myself a Nikon F65D a few weeks back and only now getting round to use it.

It is like a brand new camera; still got the original warranty card in the box :)

I have to admit that I find it exciting waiting for the photos to be developed; back to the old days when you had to wonder how many "good" ones you had managed to get.

Too easy now with instant results on the screen in front of you.
