Official Talk Leica thread

Hi, FUJI make a very tempting offer of € 3500 for a new GFX 50R. However, this is heavy metal, and no IBIS, meaning monopod-use, if you want to get the full potential. There is also a special offer of a 50mm FUJI lens for € 550... ---

I have a soft spot for FUJI, and I still have this one :

But I think, I will not take this special offer ... ---

Question: I am thinking of getting a 21mm... preferably leica, but anything with the contacts would do.
Which would be best in your opinion...? For say around 1k euro.
I'll probably chop in the 15mm due to the fringing...

Hi, none of the 21mm lenses I recommend are coded. - But you can select the appropriate lens profile manually.

I only have 3 21 mm M mount lenses:

ZEISS Biogon 4,5/21. Not recommended, because of colour shift.

VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21. Small, light.

LEICA Elmarit 2,8/21 ASPH. My best 21mm. I recommend this, having seen offers of around €950 on ebay.

Finder. I have two, the Universalsucher (Frankenfinder) and a smaller one, from 21mm to 28mm. - Meanwhile, I use neither, because they are cumbersome and make the
M9 less pocketable.

I (try to) align the camera with the internal finder, using strctures in the subject.

Resist the urge mate!

Hiya. I think I am due a Leica store visit. That fringing on the sides is now on three lenses... 15mm 28mm and the 50mm. I am going to try to take some test shots with all lenses at their lowest f# and at f11 to see whether its just me.

In case its a hidden setting on LR, is there a reset all option ? I cant seem to find one.

Hi, here is what I do on the M9:

-VOIGTLÄNDER 15mm. I manually select the 2,8/21 in the profile list #11134

-VOIGTLÄNDER 2/28. I manually select the 2/28 asph. #11604.

-50mm. Find the best profile yourself.

The M240 supports the manual selection of lens profiles (I checked the manual.).

If this is a LR Problem, I cannot help you. I only use DxO.

Good luck! :)

you can rename the lr preferences file, (i would change it by overwriting the file extension too filename.old) then next time you start Lightroom it will be like a fresh install

Windows (sorry no clue about mac.. I always think my next computer will be a mac but it never happens!)

  1. Quit Lightroom.
  2. Open Explorer and navigate to
    • Lightroom Classic, Lightroom 6 (or earlier): C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences Note that this is a hidden folder, so the easiest way to do so is to open the Start menu search box (Windows 7 / 10) / Search charm (Windows 8) and type %appdata%\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences
If it doesn’t fix it or you want your old preferences back then undo the rename!

i had a weird lr problem, i renamed the preferences file which it fixed it, then i tried the old preferences file again, and the problem had gone away!

Hi, my 21mm lenses, from left to right:

-ZEISS Biogon 4,5/21

-VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21

-LEICA Elmarit 2,8/21 ASPH

This may look like a desperate call for donations to some. Only the Skopar is still in production. Perhaps hard to believe, but I am quite happy with my old-iron collection:

There are other 21mm lenses from Leica, Voigtländer and ZEISS. Any personal experiences here in this thread ???

"slight flaring in the lower right corner"
Not really noticeable though.
The duck seems content to let you close enough :)

Hi, I thought I should mention the flare-proneness. This is not always found by other reviewers. Apart from this, the Skopar is a highly attractive, compact lens,
my smallest with M mount.

In the sun, it should be handled with care ... ---

No problems here: Casino in Wiesbaden/D (Leica M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21 f 8) :

Hi, Wiesbaden/D (Leica M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21 f 4) :

In Wiesbaden, I almost always take pics of the same subjects, which may be boring to some, but this helps when assessing the behaviour of lenses ... ---

No pink corners, if coded correctly manually, as a 2,8/21 #11134.

Hi, my 28mm M mount lenses. From left to right:

- Leica Elmarit 2,8/28 asph. v1

- Leica Elmarit 2,8/28 v4

-VOIGTLÄNDER Nokton 2/28

Leica-28mm-DSC05844c.jpg

Looks like a call for donations, again. Only the Nokton is a current model. -

Looking for current new Leica 28s - they have new prices, too.

Elmarit 2K €

Summicron 4K €

Summilux 6K €

A very clear pricing model, offering increments of 2K. Easy to understand .... :) ---

Hi, I came too close ... (Leica M9 - ELMAR-M 3,8/24 asph. f 5,6 ; crop) :

The IQ is not embarrassing, I would say. WA wildlife photography has its limitations, as you can see ...

Frame-filling pics on safaris of tigers and lions may be even more challenging ( ) ... ---

It was a bit of a grey day unfortunately, but the canals are really nice for a walk around..
