Older Canon DSLR Autofocus.

I'm thinking of getting another Canon DSLR, not immediately have to get rid of some other stuff first.

Been looking at:
Canon 5D MkIII
Canon 1D MkIV
Canon 1Dx

What I am interested in, is their AF and tracking ability when used for motorsport.
All are capable of producing great images, megapixel size is not massively important for what I do.

I really, am just interested in the AF and their tracking ability, I have seen what Kipax with his 1Dx machines can do with football, but would a 1Dx surpass the other two?

The 5d mk iii and 1dx have very similar AF systems... so similar I think you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference. For the extra fps alone, I'd go for the 1dx.

Both the 5d iii and the 1dx will be superior cameras to the 1d iv imo

I used a 5D3 for many years for motorsport, AF was no problem at all, for all kinds of motorsport. I don't know as there's a great difference between the 1Dx and 5D3 in AF terms. While they're surpassed by the mirrorless equivalents now, I doubt you would have any issue with any of those in terms of producing work at the track.
