In a blog post, Craig Keudell of On1 has at last told us when the new version will be released, and it's this coming Monday, the 10th of October. That's 10th October in American money. :)

At £90+ for an upgrade I'll sit this one out. I do like the denoise function in 2022, but LR6 is still my go-to processor, even though I've used On1 for some serious processing.

It's a massive upgrade, though, Toni. A lot of AI tools for automatic mask selection, AI Adaptive Presets, Tack Sharp AI, Advanced Portrait AI, Keyword AI, improved Sky Replacement AI... In fact, a lot of improvements that make you say, "AI don't need that!".

I'm looking forward to seeing how well Tack Sharp AI works with photos that weren't selected by On1. YouTube videos I've seen make it a killer feature for Mr Shakeyhands here.

Hi, used On1 products for a few years now but will give this one a miss and I find it has got very laggy as the years go by , I agree with Toni £90 for another upgrade is a bit steep even if you get a 15% coupon it is still £70+.
looking back at Adobe Lightroom now to work along side Affinity Photo depending what the price is on Black Friday for Lightroom, I have seen people mention that you can somehow stack your Adobe yearly payments and only guessing here I assume that any upgrades would be included from Adobe as long as you keep the contract running.
Need to see how Lightroom runs on my Windows 11 computer. Russ.

I'm with Toni on this £90 for an upgrade, albeit a comprehensive one, seems a little too pricey for me, so will plod along with my ON1 22.

I agree about the lag, although it is usually limited to initial viewing of images. Once that's passed it seems fine to me. NoNoiseAI is positively hypersonic compared to Topaz NoiseAI.

Well, after saying I wasn't going to, I bought it this morning, I'm just too weak :ROFLMAO:

Might give this ago rather than subscribe to Lightroom for another year.

I ditched Lightroom a few years ago and moved to on1 it works for me. just got the new upgrade. But have stinking cold so we’ll look at it later. Preview looks good.

I bought ON1 Raw last week using their excellent military veterans scheme which gives a 50% discount, its free if you are serving. This applies to UK Military too so if you have taken the Queens/Kings shilling in the past it is a very nice gesture. I like the programme too.

Something I qualify for at last, served 3 years.
I will just have to wait for Adobe to introduce it.

I think all software has its good and bad bits, it’s the way of the world. I like to stick with what works for, me and I’m comfortable with.i suppose at the end of the world if it does what you are happy with stick to it.
just my opinion.
enjoy your day

Software programs are a game of leapfrog, Sometimes one is ahead and sometimes another.
Over time there is little if any difference, except personal preference.

Specialist programs Like PTGUI are far better than General programs like Photoshop for their particular purpose.
But there is little point in having several general purpose programs.

I've got "On1 Photo Raw 2022" and only ever used it once a short time ago on an iPhone pick, must admit I was pretty impressed with what it did. After reading this thread and seeing some of you have got the latest On1 incarnation I just wondered if any of you have given it a workout yet and just what your opinions are ?

I have been sent a discount code from On1 that's valid until the end of October 22 and I'm seriously considering upgrading.

Any response would be very much appreciated.

Not a real workout, though I'm going to be diving deeper later today. The best part, for me, is the AI masking. Photo Raw can identify different parts of the picture; for example, it can recognise people, various forms of transport, skies, mountains, water, vegetation, buildings, and so on. Hovering your mouse over any part will light up that part in blue and clicking it will select it for the next operation, automatically applying a mask as you perform that operation. For example, select a person then remove the entire background; select a car and change its colour; select the mountains and apply a Dynamic Contrast effect, or whatever. You can also select one or more of these parts and apply a Preset just to that part. A very quick way of making your subject pop out a little from the background. The masks aren't perfect but hopefully that will improve. I thought it was well worth the upgrade price.

On1 have been posting short videos on YouTube since the launch of PR23. Another 7 went up yesterday.

Thank you kindly Garry, appreciate your reply.

"That's very helpful and most informative, on the strength of your comments and the On1 short videos that I've seen I shall get a copy later today"

I got it today as still stuck at home, not bad but will have more of a play soon.

I've been so busy Garry, I've not had a chance to download the upgrade yet but I have managed to see quite a few of the demo' videos and I'm pretty impressed to say the least. So hoping very much to download the new software within the next couple of days.

I paid less than £70 using one of the codes from the ON1 experts on YouTube such as Jim Nix.

Thanks to exchange rates the price for me has never dropped below that, even with sdp20 or some of the other codes. On1 sent me a 15% code last week, but the codes don't stack.

I've downloaded "On1 Photo Raw 2023" and managed to get an hour today to find my way about and I have to say its quite an impressive bit of software. I've also got earlier versions of the software which to be honest all I've used them for is culling my snaps etc.

So far so good !! What I can't find out how to do though is how to add different locations of where I store my working images, ie there's a list of various locations that come up such as my external hard drives etc but what doesn't come up in a the list is "iCloud" which is where I put my snaps that I intend to do some PP on. By putting them there means I can work on them with any of my units such as my Mac or iPad and my iphone if I wanted to or part PP a file on one unit and finish it off on another. The only way I can see to get my snaps that are on "iCloud" is to physically drag a file on to the On1 icon and that fires up the programme and imports the file.

Does anyone know how I can add "iCloud" to the list of places that I can import from ?

Anyone that came from Lightroom was the transition easy. Feature wise nothing major missing.

Yes but. It's very lightroom like in some ways, but things work a bit differently - gradients, brush sizing etc. You should definitely do the free trial first. I would prefer a catalogue like Lightrooms, rather than water appears to be DRM by folder, but I've not tried to use the DRM side yet.

Generally I'd say that by comparison LR has a lot of stuff missing.

Make sure you're on the My Catalogs tab in the left-hand panel, then click the + to the right of where it says 'Catalogued Folders'. Navigate to your iCloud folder and click Open.

I like the easy questions. :)

Many thanks Garry, I'll give that a try a bit later on and reply accordingly with my findings.(y)

Well I've been playing around with the new "On1 Photo Raw 2023" software for a couple of hours today and I have to say this software in my opinion is on the next level.

I normally do virtually all of my PP work in Affinity Photo which I like very much but I shall from now on use the On1 2023 at least for the RAW part of my PP work and then probably switch to Affinity for the intricate parts of any PP.

One of the other bonuses of On1 2023 is that it reads the ProRaw files from my iPhone which Affinity does not as yet, and the Tack Sharp part of the software is insane its so good. I was and maybe still am going to upgrade my iPhone to the latest "iPhone 14 Pro Max" from the "12 Pro Max" that I have now, but its just possible that this On1 2023 software might just mean I'll delay until the "15 Pro Max" is released as the improvement to my iPhone images is really remarkable.

"One very happy Bunny":):)

Just gave in & ordered it - £68.

This may well be the point at which I finally migrate from LR. Being able to open A7III images directly instead of converting them first for Lightroom 6 is a driver, but I've just been back and re-edited a bunch of shots taken in Italy on my D610 back in 2018. The new noise reduction and detail enhancing tools were the final push needed.

That sounds like a positive result Toni, I'd be very surprised if your not delighted with the new software.
