one choice quad i7 vs graphics?

Well im looking to invest in an imac and there are a few refurbished ones on the apple store in my price range. the only problem is that one im looking at is quad core i7 and has 512mb graphics card whereas the other is quad core i5 and 1gb graphics.

if you were in my shoes which would you opt for? i use it for photoshop, stacking and general college stuff

for photos and PP you dont need GPU, so more CPU power and higher RAM numbers are better.

if you use photoshop for some 3d graphics then opt for 1gb GPU

quad i7... Assuming one of the later PS, they will use the GPU for accelerating some of the filters. You may lose oiut in that case with "only" 512Mbytes, but this will be outweighed by a 20% (or so) faster CPU for 99% of the rest of the time.

id agree with the above, id say youll see better performance with the i7.
