Ok peeps, im thinking of doing an online course and stumbled across this http://www.thephotographyinstitute.co.uk/index.cfm/apg/home , just wondered if any of you guys have done or doing this course and if its worth the money, says you get a diploma after completion of it, but what would this count for in the real world and would it help me along the way to earn a living as a photographer as this is what i want to do, any info on this or other courses would be greatly apprieciated.

Andy :)

Hi,

I recently enrolled on a course and to be honest, it was a big let down. I went for the SPI one advertised in AP magazine.
Personally, I found the content very disappointing. What is it you want to achieve to by doing the course? Is it the qualification or the experience?

If you just want the skills, I would go by the route of just playing with the camera and read online on forums like this. If its for qualification, a course might be a better way. I would however prefer to go to physical one, that's just my preference though.

Hi Andy, I wanted to do the same, until I saw the cost..... not sure it would help me get a return on the outlay so never bothered

I did register my interest though and keep getting emails with offers, it's now with £200 off so if you want to do it, register interest and wait for the price fall.

Ive been seriously considering the OCA's course, The Art of Photography. Seems like a great course and the credits can be used towards a BA degree if you choose to follow that route.

Ive posted a link in the thread highlighted in my post above but here's another direct link to the OCA site: http://www.oca-uk.com/distance-learning/photography-1-art-of-photography

Also been looking at this and would be interested if anyone has any personal experience. Thanks.

Andy

UPDATE: Just checked the OCA Group on Flickr - lots of info on the course there (good and bad!).
