Hi folks am looking for an online printing company can you recommend any please.

DS Colour Labs

Supremely fast, very good value for money, and excellent quality. Their software is a bit clunky and unreliable if you have a lot of shots to process though.

I'm assuming you're after a general printer rather than fine art stuff.

Whats the software like for DSCL?

There site is linked to by the website of the camera club i've just joined.

Some of the prints submitted for competition look great.

It's online DF. You go to the website, upload your pics and choose the size and paper finish the order and pay. Two days later your doorbell rings :)

Just need to be careful and read up on colour profile and sizing as you do with any printer.

Photobox has disappointed me in the past. I recently tried Aldi online service and so far so good, very cheap (£3.03 for 5 x 8x12 prints delivered) printed on Kodak Royal paper, delivered within 36 hours.

The prints are really good quality. I had a set of 3 or 4 10x8's printed out for college, and also had the same prints done by Ilford at four or five times the price. When I did the "blind taste test" with the lecturers they preferred the DSCL shots.

Their P&P is a flat rate, so one print or twenty and it's the same, so I like to get my money's worth. Problem is that with 20+ hi-res images it takes a LONG time to upload. I've been in contact via email, and they maintain that it's my internet connection. That may be the case, but I VPN in from home to work, and if the internet drops, so does my VPN. That never happens, so I can only assume that it's a tiny interruption that the VPN can't see but their software throws a wobbly over. I just wish their upload client was a bit more stable, so that an interruption in transmission doesn't mean that you have to go through the whole order process from the beginning.

An "upload, then pay" system like the other online companies have, rather than "pay then upload" would be much better.

Your mileage may vary of course, as it may well be my connection, but I only have problems when I try and order more than about 8 or 10 prints in one go.

It's not enough to put me off using them though, as they are such excellent value for money. I've ordered lunchtime and the prints are on the doormat the next morning!
