Hi,

I’m after some advice on MS Outlook :thinking:

The problem:- The admin staff I work with need to make appointments for me & use my outlook calendar to schedule work, however because I cover a large area with my work my calendar rarely reflects my working week. There are too many variables to change this. :shrug:
The problem is, I repeatedly ask the admin girls to call me before making a new appointment mid-week but this seems to fall on deaf ears :bang:

Possible solution:- Is there a way to force a pop-up reminder to call me when the girls amend my Outlook calendar?

Thanks in advance :thumbs:

When I had outlook configured with exchange, there were settings for changing permissions.

i.e. I had permissions to create an appointment in any of my staff's calendars, and it was treated as accepted, but, if they tried to create an appointment in my calendar, it would come up as un-confirmed, and I was sent an email asking for confirmation prior to acceptance.
Possibly this is the closest you would be able to get

I believe so, it might have been under the heading 'delegation', but I can't remember (4 years since I used outlook this way!).

@mickwreay
Sometimes your mobile network provider provides free email addresses. You could set up a rule in your outlook settings (server side), to filter any emails requesting delegation/approval, to copy and forward to your mobile email address number (mine used to by my mobile number@myprovider.co.uk)
Just a thought.

Otherwise, you might just have to go the cattle-prod route :D

Never thought of that, only snag might be it's on an MoD system so each external email needs release auth blah:rules:

Thanks for scratching your heads peeps :thumbs:

Ah, that would cause a definite problem. Depending on the system, some of the project names might be classified, in which case, if someone invites you to a meeting to discuss project X, this subject of the meeting would then be emailed out to your phone. Definite no go there!
Oh well.
So long as you don't get a cattle prod with an in-built computer charging system, you could probably use that instead :)
