Yes
blooooooomin eck.
just had a band contact me.
did a charity gig a few weeks back, and sold the pics on our website.(profits to the charity obviously).
one of the bands i shot, and talked to at length, bought some.
theyre so pleased with the results, they want me to do a pub gig for them.
and of course theyre paying.
my first proper paid gig.
wohoooooooooo:woot:

Whilst I'm learning my craft, this area of photography is the one that ultimately interests me most (as I play in a couple of bands too) - would you mind sharing with me, either here or by PM what sort of "rates" and/or fee charging mechanisms one can expect from band/gig photography :thankyou:

paul c. thankyou very much for that comment.
that realy made me a happy man.

oldest swinger.
while i am second tog , and assistant to wifey(the proper tog), i shoot a lot of bands at my local club.and the odd pub.
the intake club , in mansfield.
i love doing it, and to be honest, its mostly for my entertainment, and the clubs owner Simon doesnt charge me entry. in return i give him the odd image now and again, and tag a few on his myspace sight.
i donate the odd photo to the bands that play , mainly for their myspace pages too.
that nets me a few tshirts,cd's and such. plus the odd drink.
it has generated the odd band photoshoot for wifeys biz, and some portrait work, and its great fun.weve even made a contact which got us a wedding through it.

if we were charging for commercial work(through rainbow photography with the wife shooting), a shoot plus editing charges , youd be looking at probably a minimum of £120 for an hours shoot.and traveling expenses.
but as i'm doing it for me.so not officialy rainbow as such, although the images will be licenced, probably only charge em about £50.images edited and on a disc.
and of course we will/i still hold copyright, so we can use em for our promo .
and they can buy me a curry too.
theres plenty of other guys n gals on here with plenty more experience than me, of gig shooting.
i'm under no illusion that i'll ever make huge money out of gig work.
i view any money i make out of it as pocket money realy.
i dont realy want to be falling over other togs in "the pit" and attempting to get my shots in the "three songs and your out" scrum.
by the way. what bands do you play in?

well done and best of luck

Thanks for the update Mr Stripe ;) most helpful - the bands I play in are Rock/Blues band called Muleskinner Blues Band and a 10 Piece soul band called Midnight Movers - both based around Worcs area.

I kinda figured that if I wasn't gigging at weekends (for which I can get between £40-£80 depending on the venue/event) could I get the same/similar amount for 'togging but still getting out and enjoying my hobby
