Panasonic G1 or Nikon D3000

This is not for me but for a friend at work whose girlfriend is tghinking of getting a G1,now I am a bit of a dinosaur but my reaction was that however good an EVF is it never beats reflex viewing and also the smaller sensor on the panasonic will be noisier than the Nikon.As they are around the same price and there is not a vast difference in size I wondered what users views are on the pro's and con's of these 2 models

Probably best to handle both - the GF-1 looks very nice,but I think these small form factor cameras make sense if you want to go with just one small lens. If you end up with a bagfull, then the body size advantage is dwarfed by the lenses.

A Nikon D3000 with a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 is going to be produce better image quality than a GF-1 with 20mm pancake, and you get a proper viewfinder as well.
