I have had excellent advise on here and wondered if using a Canon 500d and a tripod could do a good job of stitching frames to obtain panoramic images, I believe the method exists within the software supplied, Anybody with info or U tube links please?

No idea if not using Phtoshop......

Shooting Pano's is best done in Portrait as you have more height for cropping and it doesn't look too long and thin when printed. It allows more scope to crop to a decent edge without loosing too much height.

Allow at least 15-20% overlap.
Make sure you pan on a flater plane as possible. It does help if you use a spirit bubble but not really a must.
Turn off auto focus as this can lead to some strange outcomes, but I have forgotton this many times and still got fair results. F8 and above should help with this.

If using Photoshop CS2 and above, auto merging does a great job.

Thanks a lot, I have PS 5 LE, Am going to try over the next few days using both methods, I would not have thought of using the portrait mode, So it was well worth posting the question.

Try downloading MS ICE (image composite editor), it's a free piece of software and does a very good job of stitching panoramas (better than photostitch in my opinion).
